Happy New Year... Yay... unfortunately I did not celebrate this holiday with no one, got no presents for Christmas except 30 bucks, and was very frustrated at the free demo of Dead Space 2! >_<
I am a sole Veteran of that game and had desired the first game when it was official announced, and was one of the first to get the game when it was released. My mind went blank when I heard they were making DS2 (Dead Space 2), I frequently search for any known material, read every magazine, watched as many videos or trailers, and I freaked when they released the demon. Unfortunate, due to certain "internet connection" my downloading the demo was so slow that it took an entire week to finally play.
...and then I cracked.
I was so disappointed by what I hope to be better than the 1st game, but I was wrong... I regretfully am starting to regret buying the DS2 Collectors Edition set. I will list my critic on the game.
1. The gaming controls: I did not like the fact that they had completely change the button layout of the original game and don't see how it makes a change. The original had a more descent control setting. A-reload B-Telekinesis X-stasis Y-inventory BACK-map. More simpler, but now. A-have no idea B-Telekinesis X-Reload Y-Stasis charge BACK-inventory. After a dozen of gameplays, I am piss of the constant reloading because I keep clicking A instead of X, another is the inventory in which I accidentally keep recharging stasis. Worst, you can't change the button layout.
2. Where the F*** am I going: My sudden realization in the demo when it first started was it had no MAPPP!!! In Dead Space 1 the map was absolutely incredible, you freely move around and be able to see a hologram map in front of you that moves to certain direction you desire, like Metroid. In here I get no map to show where I am going, or what room lies ahead in order to get an idea of how the environment I will face beyond the room. Either they did not include the map in the demo, or they will have it in the real game... either than that I am still upset.
3. OMG its a Talking Issac!- I was constantly told that the silent Issac Clarke, the man bonded with determination to do what everyone told him to do in order to survive and find his lost girl, was going "to call the shots". The one man that everyone grew attach to was given a voice that does not fit the character nor the game. Honestly when I first heard him speak, I thought I had accidentally found an audio log since Issac was playing the usual sit in the corner as be cool. Then I realized he was actually talking... I was like "Issac, we know your crazy so stop talking to yourself". His voice does not help in the campaign since it does fit with the mood of insanity and the situation he is in.
4. I don't need Ammo, I need a Body- For some odd reason, in the original, the necromorphs (dead people that had turned into monsters) had dropped ammo or credits when brutally killed by Issac, not knowing well enough how a creature was holding such a thing knowing they use to be civilians. But now the developers have upgraded there the entire system of scavenging to a more awesome strategy... not. Now I was lazy and scared to go near a necromorph, so I simply used telekinesis to grab hold of whatever they carried from a long distance (Hehehe). Now you have to find the dead body that you screwed with your awesomeness and stomp to get your reward or punch a boxed wall. Great, now I have to go back downstairs since I made a full sprint to the 2nd floor while shooting down a dozen of Zombies, and need a few clips to survive. Worst there bodies disappear...
5. It is okay to be scared... What if I am Not?- My first reaction to the original dead space was absolute horror since it was already midnight by myself alone in the dark having drank 2 liters of Nestea and could not afford to scream or even press pause since the button had broken. I had gone against the impossible in impossible mode which scared the F*** out of me, yet I remained stay by Issac side fully aware I was going to die of fear. And for some reason when I played the demo, I was in shock when I realized non of the scares that were shoved in my face gave no suspense or the thrill to scream. Like a scene in the frozen storage when Issac suffers a dementia of people half dead screaming in agony in a real loud tone that left me with a ? mark.
Wow this journal is long and I still need more to right... Like they say, its always the quiet ones.
Anyway, I'll type more over this next time
